Off Season Fun

What can a guy do to relieve this cabin fever and improve next year's duck hatch? Predator hunting of course. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. You can use your duck gun, a small caliber rifle, or even a bow. Find an area where predators frequent. This is easy to do while snow is on the ground. Set up with the wind at your back and call intermittently for 20 to 25 minutes. I like electronic calls because you have a wide variety of sounds and you can set the call away from your hiding location. Mouth calls can work just as well but require more practice. Whether it's coyotes, bobcats, or fox, predator hunting is a blast and definitely improves the success rate of nesting waterfowl.
